Chad loves hiking with his family and teaching youth of all ages about the outdoors. Last and most proud position he holds is being a father to two lovely children and husband to an amazing bride, Candace.

Carly Herndon
ASSISTANT CAMP DIRECTOR

Carly Herndon will be graduating from Texas A&M with her Master’s in Applied Youth Development in May of 2026. She has served as the Assistant Director at two different camps in Oklahoma.

What she loves most about working at camps is watching young people face challenges and grow while they over come those challenges. She thinks a camp can never have enough songs or games and strives to foster community in every setting. Carly is so excited to spend the summer with your kids, making memories and exploring new interests at Camp Millican!

I made a friend this week.

Camper

Both my boys had the time of their lives. It was their third camp of summer and they both said it was their favorite hands down.

Parent

My son was so anxious to go, but once he got there, he felt so relieved because of the friendly personalities of the counselors. You could tell they wanted to be there and were happy to be there, and that made all the kids feel at ease!

Parent

My camper was very excited to go to camp every day. She found something new every day that excited her about being outdoors. She made lots of great new friends and enjoyed her camp counselors. We were grateful for the opportunity, for the kind counselors and the safety we felt in going to the camp every day. We will definitely return!

Does Camp Millican require vaccines to attend?

Does Camp Millican require vaccines to attend?

Yes, we have adopted the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) requires students in K-12 public and private schools to be immunized against diseases like diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, and meningitis (7th grade). Proof of vaccination is required for enrollment. We recognize that some individuals may not be fully immunized due to medical reasons. If your child has a medical exemption, you'll be able to upload a note from your child’s physician stating the specific medical reason for exemption. An affidavit exemption for reasons of conscience document is not accepted with our new policy. While we respect every family's personal beliefs, our current policy allows exemptions for documented medical reasons only, as confirmed by a licensed physician. A conscientious exemption rather than a medical one does not meet our camp’s immunization policy requirements.
