Welcome to the Conservancy
Millican Reserve is a place worth capturing. With wide-open meadows, wooded trails, and peaceful lakes, the landscape offers a stunning natural backdrop for photographers of all levels. Whether you’re here for a family portrait, an engagement session, or simply to document the beauty of the land, we welcome photography that is thoughtful and respectful. As a private property and protected landscape, we have guidelines in place to help preserve its integrity. Before you plan your shot, please review the policies below so we can keep this place beautiful—for your session and for everyone else who enjoys it.
Millican Reserve is one of the most scenic settings in the Brazos Valley. From golden-hour light over the lake to wildflowers blooming in open fields, the landscape offers variety and depth in every season. Popular locations include the Boathouse, Grove, and Market areas, as well as trails, shaded oak groves, and Mount Millican. Photographers regularly use the property for engagement sessions, bridals, senior portraits, and family milestones. It’s a place where nature elevates every frame.
To protect the land and ensure a positive experience, all professional or posed photography must be scheduled in advance. A permit is required to access the property for a photo session. Photography is allowed only during daylight hours and in designated locations. Drones are not permitted without special authorization, and props that could damage the landscape (confetti, glitter, smoke bombs, etc.) are not allowed. Please treat all trails, wildlife, and facilities with care, and leave no trace.
We ask that all photographers plan ahead to ensure availability and receive proper access. Contact us to schedule your session. Professional photographers who are not current members must apply for a permit before entering the property. To get started, visit our Pricing page or use the form below to submit a request. We’re happy to help you plan a beautiful session while supporting the care and protection of the land. s
