This event is FREE, but RSVPs are encouraged so we can prepare enough materials for everyone.
Details
Day at Play
Join us for Day at Play where participants will create their own bug hotels using natural materials gathered from Millican Conservancy land, such as sticks, leaves, grasses, stones, and bark. These small habitats offer safe spaces for beneficial insects and native bees to rest, nest, and shelter while helping support healthier yards and gardens. Each guest will leave with a handmade bug hotel ready to place in their yard, garden, or outdoor space.
Activity Outline:
- Find natural materials: Mason Bee tubes will be provided, but all other items can be found in our bins or on the land
- Design, build, and decorate the bug hotel: Participants will choose a wooden box and arrange materials inside to create small spaces, tunnels, and layers for bugs and bees
Please dress for outdoor play and exploration. This program uses natural materials and will be self-guided. All structures created will not be tested for safety, so proceed with caution.
This event is FREE, but RSVP is encouraged so we can plan accordingly.
Parking:
Please use the Farm Entrance to Millican Reserve (19851 FM 2154). Designated parking is available at Basecamp. You MAY NOT PROCEED past the parking area in your vehicle.
All outdoor events are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Registered attendees will have the option of enjoying the same materials on a different day in the week at their discretion.
If you have questions, or are having difficulty registering for this event, please email us at info@millicanreserve.com
