Day at Play

Spend the day creating, imagining, and building outdoors! In this hands-on Day At Play, participants will work with bamboo sticks, branches, and wood found on the land to design and build teepees, small houses, forts, and imaginative structures. This open-ended building experience encourages creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and a deeper connection to the natural materials around us. Activity Outline:
  • Gather and explore natural building materials such as bamboo sticks, fallen branches, and pieces of wood found on the land.
  • Learn simple ways to balance, lean, stack, and connect materials to create sturdy shapes and shelters.
  • Build teepees, tiny houses, forts, animal homes, or imaginative woodland structures.
  • Work individually or in small groups to plan, test, rebuild, and improve each design.
  • Add finishing touches using leaves, bark, vines, grasses, and other natural loose parts.
Please dress for outdoor play and exploration. This program uses natural materials and will be self-guided. All structures created will not be tested for safety, so proceed with caution.     This event is FREE, but RSVP is encouraged so we can plan accordingly.    Parking:  Please use the Farm Entrance to Millican Reserve (19851 FM 2154). Designated parking is available at Basecamp. You MAY NOT PROCEED past the parking area in your vehicle.  All outdoor events are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Registered attendees will have the option of enjoying the same materials on a different day in the week at their discretion.  If you have questions, or are having difficulty registering for this event, please email us at info@millicanreserve.com  Millican Reserve, Farm to Market 2154, College Station, TX, USA
